In an avant-garde curriculum, students interacted with patients in a chronic care clinic, experienced direct, in-depth and one-on-one interaction with OU-Tulsa faculty members, interviewed community members who treat the vulnerable, and developed a comprehensive understanding of community medicine.

Groups of faculty and students conducted in-depth interviews with stakeholders throughout Tulsa to learn their objectives for the health of the community, the criteria they use to assess success, and what they see as needed change from the medical field.

Student Participants Twenty students in the first class of the OU-Tulsa Physician Assistant program and twenty students matriculating into the OU College of Medicine were introduced to the theory and practice of quality improvement through action research.
